Invite from the Boys over at the Prince Register
Prince Skyline GT Register
Guys & Girls,
Information on the next Prince Skyline GT register national meeting which will be held in the Lithgow/Bathurst/Katoomba/Blue Mountains area in 2010! After several successful national gatherings, our biannual event is closing in very quickly. It is a great chance for owners & partners or friends to meet, socialise and enjoy our common interest shared in the Prince marque.
The event will be held from Sunday May 2nd to Friday May 7th commencing at Bathurst racetrack/National Motor Racing Museum at 2:00pm on Sunday May 2nd.
The afternoon can be spent enjoying the roads that make up the infamous Bathurst racetrack, the museum or anything else that might be of interest.
We will be meet with Don & Heather Adams and a group from his club, The Port Macquarie Heritage Car Club from 2:00pm. Later in the day we will enjoy a convoy run (approx. 1 hour) with Don’s club back to Lithgow where we will plan on staying the night and joining Don’s group for social dinner. Don’s group finish their run on Monday 3rd May and will be leaving us on this day.
Don & Heather has made numerous suggestions of things to do in the Lithgow area on the 3rd May including:
Lithgow Area
1 Small Arms Museum
2 Zig Zag Railway (working rail original route over mountains) – we will co-ordinate a group booking for those interested with the potential of a group discount.
3 Mount Wilson (fabulous garden village approx 30 mins east and stunning in Autumn) and a nice drive around the mountain.
4 Heaps more within a couple of hours drive.
It has been suggested that we head to Katoomba later on Monday 3rd and spend a few nights there. Katoomba is a great base and there are many suggested activities that can be undertaken in the immediate area.
Katoomba Area
1 An explorer bus which stops at some 29 places of interest
2 A day trip in and around the Blue Mountains with a recommendation of visiting the Carrington Hotel (meals in the Grand Dining Room). The Carrington Hotel is a fabulous Katoomba icon, which has a library containing a collection of old photographs of Catalina Park Raceway. Perhaps, a visit to the Norman Lindsay Museum at Faulconbridge, walking at Wentworth Falls.
3 Paragon Cafe which is another famous spot
4 Mr Pickwicks which has a huge collection of old books for sale.
5 For the antique lovers – an old cinema at Blackheath has been transformed into a huge antique warehouse
6 Zig Zag Scenic Railway
7 Scenic World which includes Skyway Walk, the world’s steepest Railway, walkways
8 Toy & Railway museum
9 The Everglades
10 Etc etc
As you can see there is certainly lots to do in the associated areas for all to enjoy. We will have various different drives planned, however the idea is that everyone will have the opportunity to do and see whatever appeals to you. Don & Heather Adams have offered some accommodation suggestions as per The Port Macquarie Heritage Car Club’s itinerary:
Sunday May 2nd - Monday May 3rd (1 night = Sun):
I have pencilled in 20 rooms at the Zig Zag Motel. The Port Macquarie Heritage car Club are also staying at this motel on this night.
The deal is $210 for 3 course dinner, cooked breakfast and bed all for 2.
The basic room rate in the above is $125 which is a mean rate across their rooms which range from $110 to $150. So some will win and some will lose but I don't know what else you can do.
Contact details:- Zig Zag Motel Ph 02 6352 2477 talk to Michael Inzitari. Email info@zigzagmotel.com.au and tell them you are from the Prince Skyline GT Register.
Monday May 3rd – Thursday May 6th (3 nights = Mon, Tue & Wed):
I have pencilled in 20 rooms at the Sky Rider Motel.
The accommodation is No frills but clean and comfortable. Has a dining room but is BYO.
The deal we managed is $150 for 2 course dinner, cooked breakfast and bed all for 2 (per night), or, basically it is $75 per head (Dinner & Cooked breakfast included). B & B is $105.

Again, tell them you are part of the Prince Skyline GT Register
Thursday May 6th – Friday May 7th (1 night = Thur):
I have spoken to Janeen Hosemans who is the Sales Manager at Citigate Mount Panorama (Bathurst) who has advised that the hotel can only provide an Early Bird or ‘Advance Purchase’ booking cost. Rooms start from $111.00 for a Studio Room and go up from there.
Citigate Mount Panorama is a new complex located on Conrod Straight with every room overlooking the Bathurst track. General consensus from a recent Melbourne meeting was that overwhelmingly in favour of the last night of this national meeting to be spent back at Bathurst. This hotel fits the bill for comfort and would undoubtedly make for a memorable final night. I can already see some great photo shoots with all the cars around the track.
You will need to book your accommodation directly online with Citigate :

When you enter in your date (Thursday 6th May) for 1 night you will then be taken to another screen for Advance Purchase (cheaper rates – ie. Early bird). Decide yourselves whether you would like breakfast included or nightwhich appears a little pricey??
The gathering will formally end/close on Friday 7th May with everyone making their own journeys home.
You are by no means committed to staying for the whole week, and can choose to stay wherever you like and for as long as you can/want.
A number of restorations will be finished by this time and we look forward to seeing these cars on this outing.
